Search Engine Optimization
SEO - or Search Engine Optimization - is probably the most important form of advertising right now.
It can put you to the top of Google, Yahoo and Bing for whatever words your clients are searching for. Forget the Yellow Pages. This has completely revolutionized the way people look for information.
Studies have shown that people trust the natural, organic search results more. And that's the kind of SEO I do.
It's not easy. I've done it about 20 times. But each time took up to six months of sweat, blood and tears.
Here is my most recent success.
The PROBLEM:
Simmons Mattress Gallery had absolutely zero presence online. When I was asked to come into their Coquitlam head office to help them build sales, I had to call the operator to find out where they were.
The SOLUTION: Social Media Kit, SEO and a website.
THE RESULT
After building a website and investing four hard months into the Social Media and SEO elements around it, Simmons Mattress Gallery finally broke through. We were going for the search words: Mattress Vancouver and Mattress store in Victoria for its Victoria branch.
Four months later - we took first page spots on Google, Bing and Yahoo in both of those categories in the natural search results.
He now has almost 1000 followers on Twitter: Mattress Van Twitter
And his sales have never been better. December reported the highest numbers in 11 years.

A Year In Review
It has been a hectic year since I’ve been back in Vancouver.
I wrote my screenplay over the winter. I started up my own company in the spring. I published my children’s book in the summer.
And this fall… some really big news.

Vancouver Creatives Who Like Money - August Meet-up
It's been a while. What do you say we meet up again on Monday, August 17th?
So far, most of you who've shown up have found projects through the group, which is great. Hopefully an August Meet-up will get even more of us going.
Sign up on the Vancouver Creatives Who Like Money Facebook Page for more information.

Return On Investment
Despite the worst recession of our lifetime, Pardon Services Canada just had its best quarter in 20 years.
A completely new campaign by Immersion Creative can't hog all of the credit. But surely it's a factor.
Check the Case Studies section of my website for more information.

Social Media
Search engines love social media.
For my clients I offer full management of their Twitter accounts, Facebook accounts, Blogs and Articles.
Search for a Vancouver advertising agency on Google and I have the #1 and #4 spots. It's my 15th success.
This ranking gets me pretty much all of my business.
I can get you there too.

Immersion's Summer Intern
Immersion Creative is excited to introduce its new intern, Michelle Chuang.
She is a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University majoring in Neuroscience. Although Michelle’s background is in science, she has a passion for art direction and copywriting. She is back in Vancouver for the summer before she heads to grad school in NYC where she will attempt to land a job in advertising.

The Great Vancouver SEO Challenge
A few months ago I initiated the Great Vancouver SEO Challenge to see if I could get to the #1 spot for Vancouver advertising.
Well, I'm close.
I am now at #1 on Google.com for Vancouver advertising agency with Ice Cream Truck Advertising, and in a strange twist of fate, I'm at #5 for Vancouver advertising agency with Immersion Creative.
You can see the Google listing here: Vancouver advertising link.
But for just Vancouver advertising, I am only at #2...so there is still work to be done.

Emersion Advertising
Sometimes people search for Immersion Advertising as "Emersion Advertising."
I figure it would be a good idea to monopolize both online.
Especially consdering the name is Immersion Creative!
Ah, the things you have to think about. Who said starting a Vancouver advertising agency would be easy?

Times Are Tough. Advertise Smarter.
I did a complete re-branding for Pardon Services Canada a few months ago.
It was wildly successful. I provided them with new:
TV
Print
Brochures
Ambient/Online
#1 on Google (4 times!)
Here's my favourite ad of the lot. It's playing now on SportsNet, W, Space, Comedy, and ANET.
Vancouver advertising is in a state of flux, if you can no longer afford $100,000 for a TV ad, I can make you one for $20,000.

Natural Search Results vs Paid Advertising
Show of hands. Have you ever clicked on a paid ad on a website? On purpose, anyway? You know the stuff in the yellow bar on your Google search?
I avoid those things like the plague.
I think most people do.
If I want a moving company, I search for a moving company:
Moving Companies Vancouver
Now, that's a competitive market. There are six paid adverts on the top (including Yellowpages placements) and eight down the side.
The first of the real (natural) results is: Two Small Men.
I don't know about you, but I'd rather check out a company that Google deems legitimate over a company that has paid Google for their stamp of legitimacy.

The Spill-off Effects of Blogs
It is one thing to be #1 on Google for one thing.
It is quite another to be #1 on Google for everything to do with your topic.
For Pardon Services Canada, I created a blog: Pardon Me, Canada.
Not only does this blog have the #1 spot for Pardon Me, Canada, which was the intention, it also has tons of spill-offs, where it has #1 on Google for things not originally intended.
Here are a few of the searches conducted last week that led to the Pardon Services Canada blog:
will a criminal record in canada show up on an american record?
traveling with criminal record
criminal charges show up on cpic
I just took these off the Statcounter. People were searching for these thing today, and went directly to the blog.
I'll get into the advantage of Statcounter in the next post.
Either way, great spill-offs! This blog is getting hundreds of hits a week, from things you could never anticipate.

Welcome to my blog, Immersion Advertising.
I have another blog, Immersion Creative about work and random musings. This blog will be focussed more on the reasons to try out the Immersion Experience.
